City of Hendersonville Government Delay Opening on January 19

Due to expected overnight temperatures and the threat of black ice during morning commutes, City of Hendersonville government offices will delay opening until 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 19, 2022.

Hendersonville Public Works will resume garbage and recycling service on Wednesday, January 19. Crews will start Wednesday collection routes around 8:30 am. Brush collection has been temporarily suspended until brush piles become visible again following the melting of the snow.

City of Hendersonville Public Works crews, with assistance from Hendersonville Water & Sewer personnel, have been working diligently to remove snow from the streets of Hendersonville. Crews have taken advantage of today’s higher temperatures and the melting of packed ice to continue clearing roads and spreading salt and sand. Plowing operations will halt this evening once the temperature dips below freezing and will resume in the morning when temperatures allow the process to continue.

Public Works encourages the community to avoid parking in roadways to allow passage for plows and allow crews to clear wider swaths of the streets. Staff appreciates the public’s collaboration and patience as crews continue to respond to the impacts of Winter Storm Izzy.

If motorists must travel they are encouraged to give themselves extra travel time, increase following distances, and be aware of black ice.
