What is Title VI?
Title VI, 42 U.S.C. § 2000d et seq. was enacted as part of the landmark Civil Rights Act of 1964(opens in a new tab). It prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, and national origin in programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance. Programs that receive federal funds cannot distinguish among individuals on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, either directly or indirectly, in the types, quantity, quality, or timeliness of program services, aids or benefits that they provide or the manner in which they provide them. You may view the City's Title VI Plan and related documents in English and Spanish below.
