Welcome to The City of Hendersonville Finance Department!
The Finance Department provides financial management, oversight, monitoring and reporting functions for the City's complex financial resources and ensures that generally accepted accounting standards are followed and appropriate internal controls are in place to safeguard City assets.
As financial stewards of the City, the Finance Department is dedicated to managing the City's resources in a fiscally conservative manner while maintaining an exemplary level of customer service. The department is responsible for accounting and financial reporting, the administration and monitoring of City purchasing and paying financial obligations, accounts receivable, utility billing and collection, property tax billing and collection, grant accounting, fixed asset accounting and records, debt management activities, preparation and distribution of quarterly and annual financial statements, providing payroll services to more than 300 employees and maintaining a financial record keeping system according to generally accepted accounting principles to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, as well as, City ordinances and policies.
Open Checkbook Report
The Finance Department provides an Open Checkbook report in PowerBI, located below. The Open Checkbook report provides a transparent source to review City transaction data, including purchasing card details. In the future, invoice data will also be available for review.
The following field definitions may help users navigate the report.
- Date: The accounting date for the transaction shown.
Date Selection filters allow users to narrow down transactions by time period. - Employee: The employee responsible for creating the transaction.
Report users may search and filter transactions by one or several selected employees. - Department: The financial organizational / business unit involved in the transaction.
Report users may search and filter transactions by one or several selected departments. - Supplier: The name of the firm(s) paid for the transaction.
Report users may search and filter transactions by one or several selected Suppliers. - Transaction: A unique transaction identifier that can help us reference questions you may have.
- Amount: The dollar amount recorded.
