Downtown Mainstreet Advisory Committee
The City of Hendersonville is committed to protecting the economic viability, physical infrastructure, and social fabric of Main Street, 7th Avenue and the entire downtown area. The Downtown Mainstreet Advisory Committee serves in an advisory role to the City Council in matters pertaining to the Hendersonville Main Street Municipal Service District subject to such limitations as may be imposed by state law or by ordinances of the City. The Committee works in concert with the 7th Avenue Advisory Committee, City Staff and City Council to implement the historic preservation based economic development strategy developed by the National Main Street Center and known as "The Four Point Approach." The Committee is an active member of the North Carolina Main Street Program.
Membership & Terms
The Downtown Advisory Committee consists of nine (9) members including a City Council liaison who will serve as a non-voting ex-officio member of the committee. Of the eight voting members, five (5) will represent Main Street Municipal Service District stakeholders, i.e. property owners, business community members or residents from within the Main Street Municipal Service District. Three (3) members will serve in an "at large" capacity.
Members serve two year staggered terms and may be reappointed to three consecutive terms, before being required to sit off the board for at least one year.
Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month at 9:00 a.m. in the Operations Center located at 305 Williams Street, Hendersonville, NC 28792.
