Pedestrian Plan Steering Committee

To complete Hendersonville's Pedestrian Plan, NCDOT hired a consultant, Traffic Planning and Design Inc. which formed an ad-hoc steering committee to review transportation projects in the area. The Pedestrian Plan Steering Committee was approved by City Council on April 7, 2022 and helped guide plan development.

Previous Pedestrian Plans

2007 Pedestrian Plan Final Report [PDF]

The Pedestrian Plan was adopted by City Council in 2007. The City received a grant from NCDOT to develop a comprehensive pedestrian plan that aims make Hendersonville more pedestrian friendly. The primary focus of the plan is identification of new sidewalks along existing roads and future connections to pedestrian attractions and greenways.

The City of Hendersonville has taken an important step towards enhancing the City’s pedestrian infrastructure with the adoption of the “Walk Hendo” Pedestrian Plan. This new pedestrian plan aims to transform Hendersonville into a more walkable and pedestrian-friendly community by establishing a vision that supports multimodal goals, guides developer participation, and positions the City for future funding and partnership opportunities. Following a presentation at their December 7, 2023, meeting, Hendersonville City Council unanimously voted to adopt the plan.
