Bike Month

The City of Hendersonville is celebrating Bike Month and collaborating with wonderful community partners for Strive Not to Drive Week (May 15-22, 2026). All residents are encouraged to celebrate bicycling safety, support local initiatives, and promote a culture of respect and awareness for all who share our streets.
On May 13, 2026, National Bike Month will be proclaimed during Hendersonville’s City Council meeting at 5:45 PM at the City Operations Center at 305 Williams Street.
The City of Hendersonville will be kicking off planning efforts for a new bicycle plan called Bike Hendo this week. The first ‘Pedal Committee’ meeting will be taking place on May 15 as community stakeholders help guide the development of the plan. Stay tuned for Bike Hendo public input opportunities coming soon!
Strides are being made on bicycle-friendly infrastructure like the 1.8-mile Clear Creek Greenway, slated for completion in the Spring of 2027, as well as plan development for paving and connectivity projects funded by the recently approved $10 million dollar transportation GO Bond.
The City of Hendersonville appreciates the partnership of the following organizations focused on safer streets for all: French Broad River Metropolitan Planning Organization, BikeWalkHVL, Blue Ridge Bicycle Club, Apple Country Public Transit, Downtown Hendersonville, Henderson County, and more!
