City of Hendersonville Celebrates Historic Preservation Month with Community Events

The City of Hendersonville’s Historic Preservation Commission invites residents and visitors to celebrate Historic Preservation Month this May with a series of free community events highlighting the people, places, and stories that make Hendersonville unique. Throughout the month, the City’s Historic Preservation Commission will host three events focused on honoring local history, recognizing preservation efforts, and engaging the community.
May 6, Historic Plaque Unveiling and Hendersonville History Trivia
The celebration begins on Tuesday, May 6, with a Historic Plaque Unveiling at Guidon Brewing Company starting at 6:00 PM, followed by Hendersonville History Trivia at 7:00 PM. Attendees can learn about a newly recognized historic site while testing their knowledge of Hendersonville’s past!
May 13, Preservation Month Proclamation and Annual Report
On Tuesday, May 13, at 5:45 PM, Hendersonville City Council will officially recognize Historic Preservation Month with a proclamation. During the meeting, the Historic Preservation Commission will also present its Annual Report highlighting accomplishments and preservation efforts from the past year.
May 26, Historic Preservation Awards Reception
The month concludes with the Historic Preservation Awards Reception on Tuesday, May 26, beginning at 5:00 PM at Honeysuckle Holler. This event is open to everyone and will celebrate this year’s award recipients, as well as recognize the many individuals, organizations, and businesses that have supported historic preservation in Hendersonville over the past year. This event is co-hosted by the Historic Preservation Commission and Friends of Downtown Hendersonville.
