Hendersonville Gears up for Independence Day with the 4th of July Parade, Downtown Family Fun and Fireworks

Get ready to celebrate Independence Day as Hendersonville gears up for its 4th of July parade and downtown celebration on Tuesday, July 4, 2023! Residents and visitors alike are invited to join in the festivities and enjoy a day filled with community cheer and family-friendly entertainment.

4th of July Parade – 10:30 AM

The Hendersonville Merchants and Business Association is proud to sponsor this year’s parade, which guarantees to be a highlight of the summer season.

The 4th of July parade will kick off at 10:30 AM, with parade entries lining up at 9:00 – 9:30 AM on Main Street, south of Caswell. We encourage all participants to visit the Hendersonville Merchants and Business Association website for additional information and parade entry applications at www.nchmba.com

To ensure a smooth event experience, no parking will be allowed along the parade route on Main Street after 6:00 AM. Main Street will be closed at approximately 9:00 AM, with the avenues remaining open until 15 minutes before the parade begins. We appreciate the community’s cooperation in adhering to these closures, which will help create a safe and fun environment for all attendees. Nearby paid parking is available in the City’s parking deck at the corner of 5th Avenue and Church with more information available at www.hvlnc.gov/parking

While normally we understand Downtown is pet friendly, we kindly ask that parade attendees leave their furry friends safely and comfortably at home. This will ensure the well-being and comfort of all participants during the parade. The same request applies to the July 4th Celebration Concert and festivities, which take place later in the day.

To learn more about event street closures, please see the Independence Day Parade Street Closure Map.

4th of July Family Fun Celebration Concert and Festivities – 5:00 – 9:00 PM

Once the parade concludes, Main Street from Caswell to 3rd Avenue, along with the avenues, will remain closed as downtown prepares for the July 4th Celebration Concert. The festivities will commence at 5:00 PM and offer an evening of live music at the Historic Courthouse and Visitor’s Center, food trucks, and a kid’s fun zone. The event is organized by Henderson County Parks & Recreation, Henderson County Tourism Development Authority, and the Arts Council of Henderson County. For more information about this event, please visit www.visithendersonvillenc.org/event/4th-of-july-concerts

4th of July Fireworks – Around 9:00 PM

The cherry on top of the day’s celebrations will be Henderson County’s fireworks show, which will start shortly after dark at approximately 9:00 PM. The fireworks display can be seen from either concert location (Hendersonville’s Welcome Center stage and the Historic Courthouse Square) as well as surrounding areas. Look for the big red balloon in the sky on the morning of July 4 to find your viewing spot. If you can see the balloon, you'll be able to see the fireworks. We kindly remind everyone that viewing from the parking deck roof is prohibited due to safety regulations. The top floor of the deck will be closed to vehicle traffic on Monday and Tuesday.

The fireworks launch site will be in Jackson Park. The Dog Park area in Jackson Park will close on Monday at noon and remain closed until Wednesday, July 5th at noon. The fireworks will be launched from this area, and we will need time to stage and clean up afterward. On Tuesday morning, July 4th, the 4th Avenue entrance to Jackson Park will be closed. There will be signs and roadblocks in the area. Entrance to the park will be available via Glover Street only. The park will remain open to the public and ice cream trucks will be available at the playground all day.
