Hard Hat Pop Up Market Saturdays during 7th Avenue Construction

Hendersonville, NC - February 7, 2024 - As the 7th Avenue Streetscape construction progresses, businesses in the affected area are joining together to introduce the Saturday ‘Hard Hat’ Popup Market. Running every Saturday, starting on February 10 from 9 am to noon at the Historic Depot Plaza at 650 Maple Street, weather permitting, the market is a way to connect with beloved local businesses, including Underground Baking Co, Homemade Pasta Noodles, and Mini Batch Bakery; more updates as the Pop up Market continues.  

This market aims to bolster support for the local business community during the street closure, which is expected to last until May.  

In addition to the Popup Market, businesses along 7th Avenue continue to operate, some with adjusted hours and offerings to accommodate customers during the construction period. Additional updates on business hours and events can be found on the businesses individual websites and social media. . 

  • Underground Baking Co: (348 7th Ave E) Although not hosting regular retail operations, Underground Baking Co will have their bread available at the Hendersonville Community Co-op on Wednesdays and Fridays around 2:00 PM. 
  • Independent Bean Roasters: (346 7th Ave E, parking accessible on Maple Street and Alley accessed from Maple) Current hours: Wednesday - Saturday 9am-2pm

The Seventh Avenue Streetscape Project is an investment in pedestrian, water, sewer and stormwater infrastructure, lighting, and landscaping in the business district. It aims to improve walkability, improve connections to the Main Street Municipal Service District, and highlight the character of the historic district. The project area includes part of the intersection at 7th Avenue and Grove Street, 7th Avenue from the intersection to Maple Street, as well as a portion of Locust Street. The street will be closed to vehicular traffic starting February 1 until May to expedite construction impacts. Sidewalk work, landscaping, and final paving will take place over the summer and fall with periodic closures as needed.
