7th Avenue District Branding & Visioning Process Starting in August

Community invited to provide input in business district visioning

July 15, 2022 – As the Historic 7th Avenue Business District continues to see public and private investments, the City of Hendersonville’s Downtown Advisory Board is excited to bring in Greenville consultants Arnett Muldrow & Associates to guide a community vision and branding process. The sessions will take place on Tuesday, August 9 with a series of stakeholder roundtables and a public input meeting.

This year Arnett Muldrow celebrates 20 years of downtown planning, community development and place branding work. The company comes to Hendersonville with a track record of working with over 500 communities in 40 states and 5 countries, including working with Hendersonville in 2007 to create the "H" logo that represents Downtown.

The Hendersonville Downtown Advisory Board and a subcommittee composed of board members, 7th Avenue stakeholders, and residents of the nearby Green Meadows Community were a part of the consultant selection process and interviewed three consultants about their experience in place branding, community, and equitable engagement processes.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 9 - PUBLIC MEETING: All are invited to a public meeting at 7:00PM at the City Operations Center at 305 Williams Street.

PUBLIC SURVEY/VIRTUAL: All are invited to provide input virtually at hendersonvillenc.gov/7thave

Specific stakeholder roundtables for business owners, property owners, and residents near 7th Avenue and the Green Meadows neighborhood will take place prior to the public meeting. Organizers ask the public to please reserve the roundtable meetings for input from those in and around the district. A meeting schedule can be found on the project page at hendersonvillenc.gov/7thave.

The project completion goal is set for fall just in time for breaking ground of phase 1 of the 7th Avenue Streetscape which will provide pedestrian and stormwater improvements on 7th Avenue from Grove Street to the railroad tracks.
