Clear Creek Greenway - 180026

The Clear Creek Greenway would connect to an existing section of the Oklawaha Greenway on city-owned property, at the City of Hendersonville's wastewater treatment plant. The greenway would be 4200 linear feet and would cross Mud Creek on an ADA compliant pedestrian bridge, then continue alongside Clear Creek to the retirement community of Carolina Village, setting the stage for future expansion to the east. The proposed Clear Creek Greenway would connect the retirement community comprised of 542 residential units and bring the greenway network to 4 miles of accessible trails. The 10' wide paved path would be ADA compliant and would cross Clear Creek Road at grade with high-visibility markings on the roadway and flashing pedestrian crossing signs on=both directions. Benches, play pockets, exercise equipment, and reflection gardens would be installed along the path, as well as emergency blue light stations to aid the safety of users.

The City of Hendersonville has long advocated for pedestrian infrastructure through sidewalk and greenway construction. Our growing greenway network provides an opportunity for residents of all ages and abilities to take in nature while increasing physical activity. Exercise enthusiasts and bird watchers as well as folks gathering for social and educational events, during every season of the year, use our greenways. We have a certified Butterfly Highway and Monarch way station, as well as several pollinator gardens along our existing greenways.
