Landina Guest House Historical Marker Unveiling

Wednesday, June 15, 2022

At 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, the City of Hendersonville will unveil a historical marker at 710 First Avenue West to recognize the Landina Guest House that welcomed African American travelers during segregation. The community is invited to attend the unveiling.

The Landina Guest House was listed in the Negro Motorist Green Book from 1960-1961. It was a location where African Americans could “rent a room with a private bath with meals to satisfy.” The guest house, located behind the main residence, was operated by Hollis and Ozzie Landrum.

Hendersonville’s City Council, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, and Historic Preservation Commission approved the installation of the marker to recognize the Landina House site and the contributions of African Americans in the community.
