Rain or shine, we’re bringing you the very best in local produce and goods. From farm-fresh fruits and vegetables to handmade crafts and artisanal treats, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. And remember, the intersection will be closed, but there is plenty of parking around the market and we’re still open and ready to welcome you!

Its Tomato Day were giving out free Tomato Sammies from fresh local tomatoes with homemade sourdough from Mini Batch Bakery and Underground Baking, and of course Dukes Mayonnaise with a little salt and pepper, while supplies last! It's going to be an amazing day filled with excitement and joy!

Hendersonville Farmers Market to celebrate fourth annual Tomato Day  

HENDERSONVILLE, NC (July 24, 2024) – As the crop reaches peak season in Western North Carolina, Hendersonville Farmers Market will celebrate the humble tomato with a special event. Shoppers are invited to enjoy a day of tomato-filled fun during regular market hours on Saturday, July 27 (8am until 1pm at 650 Maple Street). 

In addition to a plethora of locally produced goods from seasonal vendors, the market will feature the following tomato-themed activities: 

Free Tomato Sammies 

Half-sized tomato sandwiches will be offered free of charge while supplies last, using only the classic ingredients of bread, mayonnaise, and fresh Henderson County tomatoes. Watch the volunteer-run sandwich operation in real-time! Big thanks to Underground Bakery and Mini Batch Bakery for providing the bread for this years Sammies.  

Kids’ Corner: Tomato Craft 

The Kid’s will lead a take-home craft inspired by tomatoes! Bring your little ones to create their own tomato-themed masterpiece and enjoy a fun, hands-on activity at the Farmers Market. Perfect for sparking creativity and making lasting memories. See you there! 

Tomato Beauty Pageant 

Which vendor will take home the Tomato Day crown? Come and cast your vote for your favorite tomato and celebrate the star of the season. Enjoy the festivities and be a part of the excitement as we honor our local farmers and their delicious produce. 

Terrye Tomato Mascot 

Can you spot Terrye Tomato, the local tomato mascot? This cheery, human-sized tomato will be happily strolling the market, dancing along to the live music, and posing for photos with shoppers. Be sure to stop and say hello! 

 

Approximately 40 vendors will be at the market on Tomato Day with an expansive selection of tomatoes, and even experimental varieties varying in color, taste, and size. Other products at the market range from locally grown produce and meat to fresh coffee, baked goods, cut flowers, plants and artisan crafts.  

Shoppers can enjoy live music from local acoustic music group Fiddlin’ Ryn who will play at the Depot, and Little Ryns’, who will play at the Jam Tent.
