Anticipating Transformation - 7th Avenue Streetscape Breaks Ground in Late January

The 7th Avenue Streetscape is about to break ground! This is Phase 1 of an enhanced pedestrian experience in the district, with needed utility updates and stormwater infrastructure along 7th Avenue. This project will be taking place from Grove to Maple Street starting the last week of January,  with a full street closure beginning January 29 February 1.

In the next few weeks, you'll start seeing construction fencing and detours on 7th Avenue, from Grove Street to Maple. While your favorite spots on 7th Avenue remain accessible, anticipate some adjustments during this phase – a little more walking may be required.

To shorten the time of total construction and allow access by summer, vehicular access will be CLOSED on 7th Avenue from Grove Street to Maple Street until May. Parking is available on Maple, Locust, and at many of the individual businesses, with sidewalk access being available to all of the businesses during this time.

An informational, drop-in meeting for the Streetscape will be taking place at the Historic Depot at 650 Maple Street on Thursday, January 18 from 4-6pm. Meet representatives from Harper General Contractors and City Staff to learn more about the project and future infrastructure improvements on 7th Avenue.
