On April 20, 2019, join Henderson County Recycling Coordinator Christine Brownand City of Hendersonville Stormwater Administrator Michael Huffman to learn kitchen and garden composting and stormwater management techniques for homeowners. Celebrate Earth Day at Sierra Nevada!
The workshops will take place in Sierra Nevada’s Founder’s Room. To find the space, enter the 2nd door to the left and walk up the stairs to the visitor corridor. The Founders Room will be on the first door on your right.
Backyard Composting (2:00 - 2:45 pm)
Henderson County Recycling Coordinator Christine Brown will teach all about creating compost from kitchen and garden waste from backyard and worm composting.
Home Rain Barrels and Rain Garden (3:15 - 4:00 pm)
City of Hendersonville Stormwater Administrator Michael Huffman will be hosting an educational stormwater presentation focusing on different green stormwater management techniques and how homeowners can implement these practices at home. Topics will include rain garden installation, downspouts disconnection, and rain water harvesting. Following the presentation, a sustainability tour of the brewery will demonstrate how Sierra Nevada has implemented these practices on a large scale.
Sierra Nevada Sustainability Tour (4:15 - 5:00 pm)
Sierra Nevada's Sustainability Coordinator, Leah Cooper, will take you on a behind the scenes tour of how the brewery continues to stay green!
If you choose to take the tour please keep in mind that you’ll be walking through production areas and will need to wear closed toed shoes. No beer will be allowed on the tour but you’re more than welcome to grab a beer in the Taproom during the workshops and after the tour!
